D Alla
In the space between waking and dream, I paint what the conscious mind dares not speak.
Alla Timofeeva is a surrealist painter whose work investigates the thresholds between consciousness and the subconscious, the seen and the intuited. Born in Primorsky Krai, Russia, she left at the age of 18 and spent several years immersed in South Korea’s vibrant cultural atmosphere before relocating to Ibiza, Spain, where she lived and worked for two decades. She now resides in Extremadura, where the stark beauty of the landscape informs her current practice.
For many years, she created under the name DALIMA, a pseudonym through which she cultivated a distinct visual language—one characterized by psychological depth, fluid associations, and arresting symbolic compositions. Her paintings are known for their ability to dissolve rational structures and access the unspoken logic of dreams, often combining elements that defy natural laws while feeling strangely familiar.
Now, at a pivotal moment in her career, the artist has chosen to continue her work under her given name, Alla Timofeeva. This evolution marks a deliberate return to origin—an act of artistic and personal alignment. Embracing her true identity signals a deeper transparency in her process and positions her work within a lineage of uncompromising, introspective exploration.
Timofeeva’s practice is rooted in the surrealist tradition but stands apart through its intimate confrontation with internal states. Her compositions function not as escapist fantasies but as structured psychological inquiries—layered, rigorous, and emotionally charged. Her work invites the viewer into a state of suspended interpretation, where contradictions are not resolved but inhabited.
